Many baby items can work for both baby girls and baby boys, but there are a lot of things that are made especially for boys as well. Although sometimes the only difference is color, if you know that you are having a boy, you can purchase baby items intended especially for boys. This will help keep the nursery from being just a baby area and make it more like a little boy's room.
A baby crib is often the first thing new parents buy for their new baby. It might seem like a good idea to go with a generic color like white or natural wood in case you have another child, but remember that many cribs can now be changed into toddler beds once the child is old enough. That means the first bed your little boy uses as a toddler will be the same color as his crib was. For that reason, a bright color such as dark blue, red or green makes a good choice.
For baby boy bedding, you'll find a lot of choices in bright colors as well as light blue. Remember, these sheets will fit his toddler bed as well, so it's good to select something he might like when he's a bit older. Cars, trucks and trains are usually a safe bet when it comes to things little boys will like.
You can find some great baby bath toys for little boys, from rubber ducks to floating rings. There are all kinds of boats that your baby can play with. When he is older, he will enjoy making up stories about the people who are riding in the boats. Or maybe he'll just crash them together and make them sink to the bottom of the tub.
Now, how about a nice mobile to hang from the baby's crib? You can get mobiles in many different styles, and some of them are brightly colored to go with the baby boy's crib. You might find many of the same types of toys little boys like to play with hanging from a mobile, such as cars and trucks.
Clothing for baby boys is often light blue, but there are brighter colors as well, and even browns, blacks and olive green. With so much variety, you baby boy can have a wardrobe that rivals most baby girls' - after all, their clothes are mostly all pink.
You're almost ready for your little baby boy, but don't forget to paint the nursery. Depending on what color you chose for the crib, you might find that light green, yellow or sky blue will look nice in the room. Darker colors should be avoided on the walls because they tend to overwhelm the room. Now that the painting is done, you can sit back and wait until the baby gets there.
