The Benefits of Cloth Diapers: Good For your Baby. Good For The Environment
Using cloth diapers for the early months of your baby’s life is a good choice for several different reasons. If you look at cost alone, the price of quality fabric diapers is approximately equal to less than three months worth of disposable diapers. If you add the price of the diapers to the cost of laundry for washable diapers to the initial price, you still will be paying less than you would for four months of disposables.
Going green is only a small reason to use cloth diapers, but it is a strong one nonetheless. The use of cloth will cut down the amount of curbside garbage substantially. A cotton diaper will not be polluting the environment as a disposable one does.
It is also great not to be putting plastic and chemicals next to your baby’s skin. A cloth diaper can cut down on diaper rash. With the new diapers, there is fluffy cotton against baby’s skin.
The baby’s legs are not irritated by the plastic and elastic from the disposable diaper covering. The cotton diaper is comfortable and fits smoothly on the baby’s bottom. There is less chance of messes and leaks. Because a cloth diaper is secured with safety pins, your baby will not be as likely to accidentally remove the diaper.
Pretty and colorful diapers made of cloth are attractive so you won’t need an additional layer of clothing for baby to be well dressed and look good. You are less likely to run out of cotton diapers. There are always clean diapers waiting and on the shelf. With disposables it seems as if you always run out of diapers just about the time that you are leaving the house.
Potty training is easier and earlier with infants who wear cloth diapers. This is easier on parents. It is less stressful for the child and the environment is better off too.
